Our New Body Care Line... And How They're Directing Us To The Gospel

We did it again. We brought in a new product line that we’re over the moon about, but this one is different. Girl Crush Co. creates far more than organic, locally sourced body care. These nutrient-rich, handcrafted products benefit Second Grace – a program designed to support local, at-risk single moms through mentorship, education, and employment so they can approach parenting and the professional world more confidently. 

As if clean and responsibly sourced ingredients aren’t already worth celebrating, our love for Girl Crush goes much deeper. Whether in the bath, or on our shelves, these products are a reminder of a more valuable purpose – our daily need for The Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Second Grace, the ministry supported by Girl Crush, believes hard work and support can give young, single moms a second chance to rewrite their future. They believe the sense of belonging can improve motivation, health, and happiness. Second Grace provides young women with job etiquette and job skills, while potentially helping to build self-esteem and self-worth. Through their mission and beliefs, they have surely turned their final belief into a walking testimony – transformation can occur with inspiration and encouragement. Sounds pretty incredible, right? 

If you’re like us, you probably know a single mom (or two) who you consider a friend. While the beliefs of Second Grace can serve as a reminder to serve and encourage the single mom’s in our lives, their purpose inspires us daily to consider The Gospel and the grace that has been given to us, new, every morning. 

Second Chances

Second Grace believes in giving a single mom the opportunity to rewrite her future. If you’re like me, my present life looks a lot different than my past. Everyone has a story, and mine was far from the peaceful, joyful life that I live today. I searched for something, someone, to fill the gap where my Maker belonged. 

The gift of a brighter future with freedom and purpose is something I’ll never take for granted. Friends, family, and most importantly, Jesus, gave me grace with my “second chance.”

Community

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV

Have you tried doing life alone? Maybe you moved to a new town and had to rebuild your community. Or, maybe your community let you down and despite feeling broken and hurt, you were left to create a new circle of friendships. 

Doing life alone is hard– because that’s not how we were designed. God created us to have deep, meaningful relationships where support, vulnerability and compassion exist. That’s why Second Grace believes a community, and sense of belonging, can improve motivation, health, and happiness.

Self Worth

Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

We were created in the image of God – resembling His attributes. The choice is ours. Will we recognize ourselves as children of the King, or will we succumb to the ways of the world - criticizing and critiquing ourselves, and striving for more worldly treasures? We were designed to rest in the design of God’s work, feeling confident in the child He created us to be.

We love how Second Grace aims to provide young women with an appreciation of self-worth.  Women at Second Grace learn job etiquette and job skills, embracing their unique talents and strengths, and encouraging their views of self-worth.
